91st GLASGOW (NETHERLEE) SCOUT GROUP
Scouting is a non-denominational group that aims to promote the full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual development of boys & girls from aged 6 to 18 years. We also try to develop each person as a member of his local, national and international community.
Our Scout group was founded in 1931, moving to our present Scout Hall in Ormonde Drive in 1953. We have provided a strong base for Scouting within the district ever since. We are delighted to welcome members at any time, and offer the following groups:
Most activity is centred round games and basic hand crafts and start to introduce some of the core Scouting themes.
At Cubs, the boys start to gain a wider experience of Scout activity covering exploring, getting to know their local environment, helping around the house, knotting, camping and well as sport, games and more craft activities.
In Scouts, the boys have the opportunity to go camping, hill walking and orienteering as well as learning skills such as First Aid and knotting . Much of the emphasis is based on personal and team development, with the older boys taking responsibility for organising many activities. The highlight of the Scout Year is Summer Camp.
